Empowering Voices
The International Women‘s day provided a spotlight on many achievements and remaining challenges towards Gender equality in Germany.
However, women’s rights and their political participation are less protected in the global south than in Europe. Strong female politicians have to fight for their voices to be heard and to pave the path for young girls who want to take action themselves.
In our webtalk about political participation in South Asia we aim to foster meaningful dialogue, raise awareness, and promote advocacy for gender equality and women's empowerment in the region.
Therefor we want to discuss the status quo of Political Participation and raise the question which initiatives and changes in the legislative framework to strengthen female voices in politics. Which role can grass root movements play; how important is education?
With this discussion, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Friedrich Naumann Foundation contributes to making the UN´s Agenda 2030 more known - especially regarding human rights and rule of law.
