How to fund small and medium enterprises in Sub-Saharan Africa
Small and medium enterprises (SME) account for the majority of employment and productivity. Especially in African countries, there is a lack of finance instruments for start-ups and business expansion, tailored for the needs of SMEs. Having the demographic changes and workforce expansion within Africa in mind, SMEs have to have better access to financial resources to provide employment opportunities and welfare to their communities.
This webtalk aims to discuss the current situation of SMEs within Sub-Saharan Africa: What are their current needs? Which instruments can German development cooperation offer? What are the chances and limitations of current SME financing? We want to discuss these and other questions with Dr. Christoph Hoffmann MdB, Member of the German Bundestag, and the economists Dr. Helke Waelde and Trevor Hambayi. This web talk is hosted in cooperation with Liberaler Mittelstand Baden-Württemberg e.V. and Lead Africa International e.V. We appreciate your interest in this event.
With this discussion, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Friedrich Naumann Foundation contributes to making the UN´s Agenda 2030 more known - especially regarding human rights and rule of law.
