Russia's invasion on February 24, 2022 of Ukraine has set off the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II. The war in Ukraine is having a disproportionate impact on women, who are facing immense hardship when it comes to health, safety, and access to food. But the actual battle field does not stop on the ground. Equally important is the communication and media battle field in Ukraine facing disinformation and Russia’s propaganda. What are current developments here? How are Russia’s efforts countered? And what are we to expect in the coming months? We are grateful to be able to discuss these questions and the role of women with Nataliya Gumenyuk, a distinguished Ukrainian journalist who specializes in foreign affairs and conflict reporting. She is the founder of the Public Interest Journalism Lab; as well as the co-founder and chair of the public television NGO, Hromadske.
