Raif Badawi Award Ceremony 2021

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom continues its worldwide commitment to support independent journalism. Together with the German Publishers & Booksellers Association, we will be presenting the seventh Raif Badawi Award for courageous Journalists. This year the award goes to Turkish journalist and court reporter Alican Uludağ.

The award, which was jointly initiated by Ensaf Haidar, Raif Badawi’s wife and co-founder of the Raif Badawi Foundation, and prominent German TV news presenter Constantin Schreiber, honours journalists or organisations and focuses on human rights violations. At the same time it aims to keep Raif Badawi’s case in the public consciousness.

The ceremony will be hosted by Constantin Schreiber, the keynote speech delivered by Věra Jourová, Vice President of the European Commission for Values and Transparency.
