Disability Inclusion in South Asia: Perspective for Labor Market
One billion people, or 15% of the world’s population, experience some form of disability. Persons with disabilities, on average as a group, are more likely to experience adverse socioeconomic outcomes than people without disabilities. People with disabilities (PwDs) are at increased risk of being left behind and falling into poverty if the companies do not include this group. According to an Accenture 2018 white paper on accessibility, companies that are able to include employees with disabilities have seen 28% higher revenue and two times higher income. However, companies fail to create a disability-inclusive environment.
Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) South Asia has always been a strong supporter of Universal Human Rights. FNF South Asia has been trying to start conversations around different issues that are faced by PwDs. In this session, FNF will aim to discuss the issues that the group faces while trying to get a job and how these issues can be addressed.
